“埃及艳后”克里奥佩特拉的发光宝座 (Burnished Throne）

在莎士比亚的《安东尼与克里奥佩特拉》中，Enobarbus描述了一下安东尼和克里奥佩特拉见面那天的场景: “The barge she sat in, like a burnished throne ” 怎么看都是一幅绘声绘色的油画。艾略特《荒原》直接戏仿了这段描写“The chair she sat in, like a burnished throne”, 而整个气氛却是诡异而颓败的。

二.      栾棋

她坐的椅子，像一把光亮的宝座

在香气中失去感觉

把烛烟抛上镶板的房顶

搅乱了天花板上的藻井装饰图案

用绿色和橘黄色铜灌铸的巨大的海植物

四周框着彩色的石头

里面光线惨淡一条雕刻的海豚在游泳

翡绿眉拉的变形，被陈列在炉架上

仿佛一个窗户俯视着森林的景象

被那个野蛮的国王如此粗暴地逼迫过

在那里夜莺不可亵渎的声音依然充满着沙漠

她仍在哭喊，世界仍在追逐

“唧唧，唧唧”灌进肮脏的耳朵

那些时间的枯萎的树干

映射在墙上，睇视的脸庞

向外伸，斜靠着，使这围着篱笆的

房间一片寂静

楼梯上响起了曳足而行的脚步

在火光里，在刷子下，她的头发

在红火的谈话的燃点散开
