端午节(Double Fifth Festival)是中国最重要的传统节日之一。
农历五月初五是端午节,也叫龙舟节(Dragon Boat Festival)。
主要习俗是赛龙舟和吃粽子。传说古代爱国诗人屈原投汨罗江殉国后,爱戴他的人们把粽子投到江里,希望喂饱鱼虾,免得他们吃掉屈原的尸体。

Double Fifth Festival is one of China’s most important traditional holidays.
This festival falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of lunar calendar and it is also known/ named Dragon Boat Festival.
Main/ major customs include racing Dragon Boat and eating Zongzi.
It is said that after Qu Yuan, an ancient patriotic poet, threw himself into Miluo River for his nation, people who loved him threw/ discarded Zongzi into the river, hoping/wishing that fish and shrimp could be fed up, so that they would not eat Qu Yuan’s body.
The flavors of Zongzi are various/ diverse and they are different in the south and the north.
In the south, people often make Zongzi by mixing peanuts and bacon in glutinous rice while northern people frequently use/ choose dates and preserved fruit as the fillings of Zongzi.
