at the same time 不仅可以作副词，还可以作连接副词

Time 作名词时，对应的固定搭配多达近半百，其中一个就是 at the same time，常用作副词，在句中作状语，但实际上它还可以作连接副词。跟其他连接副词一样，at the same time 跟在分号或句号之后，后面常有逗号。

一、作副词

At the same time 作副词，意为”同时，一起“，表示两件或更多的事情同时发生，放在句尾，相当于 simultaneously，at once，concurrently 或 together，例如：

1. at the same time:

We arrived at the same time.

我们同时到达。

Too many things are happening at the same time, and I am confused.

太多的事情同时发生，我很困惑。

My mother has the ability to make me laugh and cry at the same time.

我妈妈有能力让我边哭边笑。

2. simultaneously:

Two children answered the teacher's question simultaneously.

两个孩子同时回答老师的问题。

The network was broadcasting four games simultaneously across the country.

该网络正在全国同时播放四场比赛。

3. at once:

Don't all speak at once!

大家不要同时讲！

I can't do two things at once.

我不能同时做两件事。

4. concurrently:

The internship runs concurrently with class work.

实习与课堂工作同时进行。

It is unlikely that the network will schedule all of those shows concurrently.

电视台不太可能同时安排所有这些节目。

5. together:

The packages were sent separately, but they all came together.

包裹是分开寄的，但都是一起寄来的。

二、作连接副词

At the same time 作连词副词，用以引出必须予以考虑的相对情况，意为”同时，也，然而，不过“，相当于 nevertheless，even so，however 或 regardless， 例如：

1. at the same time:

In as much as we will do everything to help him succeed; at the same time, we want him to appreciate the benefit of hard work.

我们将尽一切努力帮助他取得成功，同时，我们也希望他懂得努力工作的好处。

Bill was able to pay for the damage. At the same time, he was very angry about the accident.

You have to be firm, but at the same time you should try and be sympathetic.

There are a lot of spelling mistakes; even so, it's quite a good essay.
