SEEKING NEW PERSPECTIVES ON ANAEROBIC DIGESTION
Anaerobic digestion is a critical sustainable technology for creating the green economy of the future, though, considered a mature technology, the potential of anaerobic digestion is yet to be fully exploited. New innovations in anaerobic technology are required to unlock the full potential of anaerobic processes that may play a crucial role in a future Bio-based Economy.
Breakthroughs in science and technology related to hydrolysis, fermentative routes and accelerated methanogenesis, may open completely new perspectives for anaerobic digestion processes.
Seeking to stimulate these new perspectives, the Lettinga Award 2015 has announced its first call for nominations. Initiated in 2001 by Dutch environmental technology suppliers, the award aims to stimulate the development and implementation of anaerobic treatment technology worldwide. The winner will be announced during the IWA World Congress on Anaerobic Digestion, the leading conference on anaerobic digestion attended by the highest level professionals from around the world.
Lettinga Award nomminations are sought for anaerobic digestion projects that stimulate the development and implementation of anaerobic treatment technology worldwide. Apart from projects aiming at technological innovations, additional activities that are eligible for the award include those focusing on awareness, implementation, knowledge transfer and demonstration of sustainable environmental bio-technologies.
The Lettinga Award is presented every two to three years. The winner will be announced at the IWA World Congress on Anaerobic Digestion, this year to be held in Vina del Mar, Chile. The results of the previous winning project will be shared with Congress participants at the same time.
The IWA World Congress on Anaerobic Digestion will cover a wide range of leading-edge topics related to the application of anaerobic digestion,with the aim of stimulating debate and connecting experts from different fields of knowledge to find the solutions to our shared challenges.
The World Congress on Anaerobic Digestion is part of the IWA Anaerobic Digestion Specialist Group conference series, which are conceived as an international forum for discussion on state-of-art of the anaerobic bioprocesses.
