Li Bai
I always wander that
Li Bai must have drunk too much ink.
But he has never thought
To keep it within the dam of his heart lake.
Therefore,
When cups of wine comes inside,
With the ink they mix together.
Then his brilliance starts to spill over.
All turns into poetry,
Dancing on a piece of blank paper.
His pride is also kept in the stomach.
As it meets with the wine,
He even looks down upon the imperial concubine.
Moonlight flows like water there and here.
It shines inside Li Bai’s eyes,
Somehow resembling drops of tear.
Wine is unlike water,
For it has a particular flavor,
That is added by different stories.
But Li Bai has never been aware.
He thinks the moon sinks to bottom of the water.
His heart follows to fetch it and hold itdear,
But he drowns himself and finds no moon but despair.
Li Bai is, however, always alive.
I see the deer he left among green hills of Mountain Tian Mu,
But he didn’t ride on.
I see the waterfall in Mountain Lushan,
That forms a curtain of 3,000 feet long.
In such a moonlit night,
I uphold a cup of wine high,
Where the light slips inside.
I toss off the cup,
And become drunk like the mud.
This is not the flavor of the moonlight.
It is his poetry that fills the night.
